Soleili, the principle ?
The first step consists in drawing the building to be studied by arranging plane faces in the space, according to a 3D coordinates system.
Afterwards, the program computes the sun position for geographical and time conditions specified by the user. Then, regarding that each face is an obstacle for the suns rays, the program returns graphically and numerically the sunniness of the selected faces.
Of course, numerous tools and options are available for all these processes.

Among numerous cases of use, Soleili can help to choose for example : the house aspect, the rooms arrangement, the windows location, the canopy overhang, the solar panels inclination, the distance between the garden trees, the urban development etc.

The past and the future of Soleili ?
The Soleili project started on October 2001. The first version of the sofware was ready on November 2001. Since, the program has undergone several important changes, increasing ergonomics and computing performances. The version 1.4 is the most known of the Soleili versions. It is available since 2003. Following the recent development, a new version is expected for 2010.

Soleili, originally created in French, has now been translated in English. However, because I'm always in a great hurry, sometimes this translation may be wrong. Thank you for correcting me. Moreover, if you wanted to translate Soleili in another language, you should contact me.

The language for Soleili programming ?
Soleili is written in C++. The object programming is visible when using the faces which are all defined as objects. Moreover, the program gets its own 3D processor.
